Once in a while you may need to change the AWS root email address associated with your account. Maybe you started with a personal email address and you then decided to use a company email address. Alternatively, you want to use an email address dedicated to AWS usage. Regardless of the reason for the change you can follow following steps to change your root email address.
- Sign in to the AWS Management Console using your root user credentials. The root user is the email address and password used to create the AWS account.
- Once you are logged in, navigate to the AWS Management Console homepage.
- In the top right corner of the console, click on your account name or the menu icon (represented by three horizontal lines) to open the account menu.
- From the dropdown menu, select “My Account” or “My Billing Dashboard,” depending on the AWS console version you are using.
- On the “My Account” or “My Billing Dashboard” page, you will find the “Account Settings” section.
- Look for the “Contact Information” or “Email Address” option within the “Account Settings” section.
- Click on the “Edit” or “Change” button next to the email address.
- Enter the new email address you want to associate with your AWS root user account.
- After entering the new email address, you may be required to verify it. AWS will send a verification email to the new email address.
- Check your inbox for the verification email and follow the instructions to verify the new email address.
- Once the new email address is verified, it will be associated with your AWS root user account.
